Luxury bathroom remodel in Tulsa, OK

A soaking tub inside the shower

South Tulsa homeowners wanted a freestanding soaking tub without giving up the shower. We took out the old tub and shower floor and built a wet room: the tub and the shower share one tiled, waterproofed space with a pebble floor.

How we did it

What a great experience. We had expected to run into issues as it’s a remodel. They were so great at dealing with unexpected and adjusting to fit as needed on the fly. We had one small issue and they quickly changed their plan and resolved it before we even knew it was an issue. Thank you so much for an amazing bathroom!

What was there

A bathroom with a tub and a separate shower. The homeowners wanted a freestanding soaking tub, and the smartest place for it was inside the shower area itself.

What we did

  • Took out the old tub and the existing shower floor.
  • Waterproofed the whole wet area with the Schluter waterproofing system, so the tub and the shower can both get wet without the wall or floor behind them ever seeing water.
  • Laid a new pebble shower floor and tiled the walls up to three feet with ceramic subway tile.
  • Plumbing: a new shower drain, and the supply and drain for the freestanding tub. The tub and fixtures were the homeowners' picks.

Why a wet room

Putting a freestanding tub inside the shower means one waterproof zone instead of two, so there is no splash line on the bathroom floor and no tub wall to step over to shower. It also lets a full-size soaking tub fit in a bathroom that could not take one on its own.

What it cost

About $8,000 to $9,000 for the work above, with the tub and fixtures bought separately.
